Welcome to the Charles and Elsie Sykes Trust website.

We are a charitable foundation established in 1954 that awards grants to qualifying charities for the purpose of helping that organisation achieve its charitable goals primarily for beneficiaries in the Yorkshire area.

In line with our grant giving over previous years, we are particularly pleased to receive grant applications from charities that are focussed on Yorkshire beneficiaries that:

• Help those suffering from poverty, disability, homelessness, domestic abuse and addiction
• Have an emphasis on children, young people, and the elderly
• Involve music and singing linked to education, and accessibility of the less fortunate to musical events
• Support local hospitals with the purchase of equipment
• Promote public health initiatives

For medical research, we are particularly keen to receive applications from Yorkshire-based research institutions.

All applications will be considered, irrespective of the size or location of the charity, although certain qualifying criteria apply.  We award grants to charities registered with the Charity Commission and Exempt and Excepted charities. We do not award grants to Community Interest Companies (CIC’s).
